The Door Doctor custom wood garage doors start with a heavy, commercial 24-gauge steel sectional door that is covered with our unique wood applications. Cedar and alder wood is used as the first layer (available in several designs), attached with bonding adhesive and mechanically attached. If desired, a second layer of wood can then be applied with the customer's chosen design.
The overall thickness of the sections is 2" before application of the wood. The sections are roll-formed with a tongue and groove that meets the rail for strength and protection against the elements. We then fill the cavity with E.P.S. insulation (approx. 6R) and PVC liner. This provides: a sound barrier, insulation, as well as a beautiful finish as seen from the inside.
The track hardware components are a heavy, commercial-grade galvanized steel. The durable quality hardware includes 14-gauge hinges, torsion tubes, and 10 ball bearing steel rollers. Where weight and door-size requires, 11-gauge or solid steel shafts will be used. Torsion springs are helical-wound wire with a minimum of 10,000 cycle life. All doors come unfinished, but ready to be stained, sealed or painted as the customer desires.
Our doors are covered for one year against manufacturer's defects, workmanship, hardware and adhesion of the wood product onto the steel door. The warranty does not cover natural defects in the wood materials including, but not limited to: splitting, cracking, checking, or warping. An initial sealing treatment is required within 72 hours of door installation in order to protect the wood against the elements. With proper staining and sealing, repeated when necessary, these doors will stay beautiful for many years of appreciation!
